Peter Rabbit is a fictional character in various children's books written by Beatrix Potter. He first appeared in The Tale of Peter Rabbit in 1902 and subsequently in five more books. He has since appeared as a character in a number of adaptations. The Peter Rabbit stories revolve around Peter, his mother Mrs. Rabbit, and his sisters, Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail. Beatrix Potter introduced readers to a number of other characters in the Original Peter Rabbit Tales as well as in Other Original Tales that she wrote between 1902 and 1930. Beatrix wrote a total of 23 tales, the most notable ones being those that revolve around Peter Rabbit.
